Painting
can represent all visible objects, with three colours, and all
colours what so ever in between
shall
be
needed, can be obtained.
The
effect of colour on our lives cannot be underestimated. The
balance and harmony of a painting has a
huge
influence on us. Our relationship
with colour and its contributing difference requires no
introduction.
We have always searched for a sublime balance between
ourselves
and the space we enter.
A good colour will have many layers
of hue, subtle
undertones that appear and dissolve in the light.
Additional
textures move these hues around in even more elaborate
ways. Modern paints
blended with
traditional materials and traditional techniques used in contemporary
spaces, creating a connection between
the present
and the past.
In restorative work, sampling and analysis are used to
re-create accurate representations of historic colour
schemes. On public building restoration work, paint
composition is
analysed to capture the underlying
evidence.
As Artist's Colourmen, colour mixing
is then used to return to the original concept. This
ability to fully control
colour
mixing and matching is fundamental to all our design work.
The mechanics to obtaining any desired effect.
We have built up a sample library of beautifully hand
crafted decorative applications based on naturally
occurring textures
using a variety
of materials selected for their stability and
permanence as well as for their
beauty. Almost all of our work uses a variety of natural, traditional or
historical materials, such as canvas, plaster,
paint, glues, metals, waxes, gesso,
paper, woods, varnishes, resins and other
mediums. We use mould making
and
casting to produce some of
the finishing.
The finishes have also been developed to
come in many matching
colourways designed to be part of the architectural structure and to
blend with the space, fabrics and
furnishings.
We are always
happy
to help and advise with every aspect of the
work during its progress and
the design development.
From the first sketches
and samples to the
fully completed design concept.
We believe contemporary
aesthetics are one of the
most vital sources for fresh work and ideas.
“..an Italian
Restaurant painted with Renaissance frescos might be predictable,
even kitsch, but an Indian
Restaurant, it does indeed merit the invention
of a new noun..” The World of Interiors

Over twenty years, our clients have been many.
Each has come with a different design idea. While
some
like
to
be very involved
in
the many aspects of the project, others are happy
to allow the work to
evolve around them,
working together with our clients
in a considered, trusted, knowledgeable and sympathetic
way
with
sensitivity
and
discretion. We choose our materials with great
care. We like our work to last
a long time and we source and
purchase from many
parts of the world. We believe decorative design
should be
of the highest
quality and
will only
use techniques proven to be reliable
consistent and sound.
